My feedback for the first assignment was fairly positive.
For this assignment, I have produced a series of five images. The first four were made using traditional ‘cut and paste’ photomontage techniques, whereas the last one was made using digital montage techniques in Photoshop. Each of the photographs, shows a street artist in action. However, the original urban backgrounds have been replaced by photographs of beautiful natural landscapes.
The final exercise for this part of the course required me to “use readily available images to make a short narrative series of four to six collages based on a recent or contemporary news event”. The news event that I selected was the EU referendum campaign.
Sam Taylor-Wood’s Still Life (2001) is a fascinating example of how an artist might use an existing work of art to create something new.
This exercise required me to “re-make an existing work of art using photography”. I decided to take the relatively simple approach of re-staging an existing painting, using Simon Quadrat’s The Illuminated Greenhouse as my starting point.
For this exercise, I was asked to “create a series of six to eight images using layer techniques”.
